The scientist who was the first boy named for Reb Levi Yitzchok, a titanium magnate’s remarkable story, accounts of brachos and miracles, and a sweeping timeline of Reb Levi Yitzchok’s life are among the highlights of a new magazine published for Chof Av.
The first boy named for Reb Levi Yitzchok grew up to become a distinguished scientist. A titan of the titanium industry became a driving force behind Jewish life in Kazakhstan. Couples who traveled to Almaty seeking a bracha returned with remarkable stories to tell.
Their stories are featured in a stunning new magazine published in honor of Chof Av, marking the 82nd yahrzeit of the Rebbe’s father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Schneerson.
One feature tells the extraordinary story of Levi Yitzchok Nimotin, who was given his name at Rebbetzin Chana’s request and went on to become a respected scientist. Another, titled “More Precious Than Titanium,” explores philanthropist Sylvain Gehler’s family history, business success and deep commitment to rebuilding Jewish life in Kazakhstan.
In “The Hidden Light in Kazakhstan,” Rabbi Shneur Ashkenazi recounts a visit to Reb Levi Yitzchok’s tziyun that gave him a new appreciation for the roots of the Rebbe’s shlichus and every Chossid’s role in it.
